Home Energy Report - the details

FIRST VISIT

We will bring you an electricity meter which we’ll clip to your electricity intake and fix its viewer in your kitchen. This is a version of those the government say they will supply for free by 2020, but check real-time readings from this one now, you will discover some surprising results.

This equipment is expensive so we’ll need to take a £100 deposit and will provide a receipt and a short agreement for our report service for you to consider. The meter will record your energy use over a typical week.

We will take details from your gas and electricity bills, preferably over the last year. We undertake not to share these with any third party.

We will take some photos of the outside of your house and record its postcode so that we know its orientation, We will also perform a full survey your home: measuring the rooms, doors & windows, recording boiler type, construction etc.

This first visit should take no more than 90 minutes, of course depending on the size of your property.

We will also discuss with you your aspirations for any project, what some of the things to think about may be, and also whether this would be part of a larger overall project that we could help you with.

A WEEK LATER

We will collect the meter with its stored information. If you decide not to proceed with our service after all we will refund the deposit less £25 to cover the week’s rental.

If you want to go ahead we will exchange the signed agreement and you will pay the additional £95 for our energy report, there is then no rental charge for the meter. We will take the meter away and analyse its records.

Within a fortnight we will provide our energy report on a CD Rom, you will be able to print it out if you wish. A full hard copy can be provided but will cost £20.

AFTER THAT

We hope you will want to go further and install some of the measures we recommend; e-mail us with feedback and if you need our further service – ask for an appointment to discuss any design and installation work.”
